At least 150 senior level executives attended the IoT Nexus event held over two days in Central London to discuss some of the connectivity challenges facing verticals in today’s Internet of Things era.
The event was also the ideal opportunity for collaboration and networking, and was supported by the proximity-based business networking app, AroundThen. Delegates were encouraged to download the app in advance, and once ‘checked-in’ to the location were able to easily identify and connect with other delegates.
iOS device users also received personalised welcome notifications and automated check-in on arrival via the latest iBeacon technology.
In one of the first trials of its kind, AroundThen users were able to send questions to the event moderator via the Instant Messaging feature, providing an additional option to delegates who would prefer not to use the roving microphone to ask questions in an open forum.
IoT Nexus Event Director Victoria Lloyd said: “For many of our delegates, the networking opportunities are as important as the presentations themselves and forms part of the value around event attendance. Having an app which supports this aspect of our event proved invaluable for our delegates who were able to make relevant business connections in the short space of time available to them.”
Ken Mawbey, AroundThen CEO confirmed. “An increasing number of event organisers are promoting the app at their events as they understand delegates can measure the return on event attendance in terms of new connections made. AroundThen directly supports and drives this networking activity. We were delighted with the response to the app and look forward to working with Victoria and her team at future events.”
